KAZ Minerals International FZCO has released its production and sales report for the first half of 2026, highlighting a solid operational performance with a total copper production of 179.8 kilotonnes (kt). This figure represents a 2% decrease compared to the same period last year, primarily due to reduced output at the Bozshakol mine, which was affected by lower processing volumes and grades. However, the Aktogay mine delivered strong results, contributing significantly to the overall production figures.
The report indicates that copper sales reached 172.9 kt, which is 4% lower than production levels, attributed to shipment timing differences and increased volumes of cathodes in transit. The company’s focus remains on efficient operations while striving to meet its full-year production objectives. CEO Andrei Tretyakov expressed confidence in the Group’s performance, noting improvements at the Bozshakol mine in the second quarter of 2026.
In terms of other metals, gold and silver production saw declines compared to the previous year, mainly due to changes in ore characteristics at Bozshakol. Gold output was reported at 57.9 thousand ounces (koz), down from 62.6 koz in H1 2025, while silver production totalled 1,737 koz, a decrease from 1,775 koz in the same period last year. Zinc in concentrate production increased by 6% to 21.7 kt, supported by higher average grades processed.
Molybdenum production also saw a slight decline, with 2,205 tonnes produced in H1 2026, reflecting lower grades at Aktogay. The report details that the East Region and Bozymchak mines contributed positively, with Bozymchak showing a 4% increase in copper production.
Overall, KAZ Minerals continues to focus on large-scale, low-cost open-pit mining operations in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, employing over 14,000 people across its sites. The Group remains committed to enhancing operational efficiencies and achieving its production targets for the year.
