    A key point on the agenda was the potential establishment of bilateral collaboration between Solvay Vostok and the State Institution “Scientific-Practical Center for Localization and Development of Industrial Cooperation in the Mining Industry.” The sides exchanged views on ways to enhance industrial integration, scientific exchange, and localization of advanced technologies in Uzbekistan’s mining value chain.

    The delegation’s visit includes follow-up meetings with senior officials from major national mining companies—JSC “Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company” (NMMC) and JSC “Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Company” (AMMC). Both companies play a central role in Uzbekistan’s mining sector, particularly in the extraction of gold, copper, and other critical minerals.

    The talks reaffirmed the productive nature of ongoing cooperation between Uzbekistan and its Turkic partners, with both sides expressing readiness to deepen economic and technical collaboration.

    Uzbekistan Participates in Second C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue with the United States

    The latest round of the C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue—bringing together Central Asian countries and the United States—was recently held in an online format for the second time. The initiative is aimed at deepening cooperation in the field of critical minerals vital to industrial development.

    Representing Uzbekistan were officials from the Ministry of Mining and Geology, led by Deputy Minister R. Yusupov, along with representatives of the Uzbek State Enterprise for Technological Metals. During the session, the Central Asian states put forward several proposals to strengthen ties with the U.S. regarding the exploration, development, and supply of critical minerals.

    Participants also presented new investment projects aimed at fostering greater economic and strategic collaboration in the resource sector.     Uzbek Geological Exploration Advances Across Multiple Sites with Coal, Polymetallic, and Non-Metallic Discoveries

    Uzbek Geological Exploration JSC has reported significant progress across multiple exploration sites, highlighting ongoing developments in the country’s resource sector. At the Uriqli site, part of the Surkhandarya field expedition under the Gissar central geological exploration expedition, coal seams numbered 1 through 6 have been successfully identified as a result of recent mining works.

    Simultaneously, polymetallic ore bodies are under evaluation at the northern section of the Khandiza ore field, while detailed exploration continues at the Vodny Say section. Exploration activities have concluded at the Severny area, where a comprehensive geological report is now being finalized for submission to the State Reserves Committee (GKZ) in 2025.

    In parallel, the field evaluation of non-metallic mineral resources is ongoing at several locations. These include celestine at Chigatai, dolomite at Loilik, gypsum at Shurobsoy, and basalt at Badava. The corresponding exploration reports are also expected to be submitted for review to the State Commission on Mineral Reserves (SCP) within the year.

    During the meeting, the parties discussed the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s mining sector, the investment opportunities being created, and explored prospects for cooperation in investments, advanced technologies, and scientific research, considering Utah’s economic potential and its advanced expertise in the mining and geological fields.

    Additionally, both sides exchanged views on improving the qualifications of lecturers and students of the University of Geological Sciences under the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology. Discussions also included the possibility of opening branches of Utah-based universities specializing in geology and mining—such as the University of Utah and Utah State University—in Uzbekistan.
