Uzbekistan and Oman have initiated discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in the fields of geological exploration, mining, and critical minerals. This development was highlighted in a statement from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, following a series of business meetings held in the Sultanate of Oman. The meetings featured Deputy Minister R. Yusupov leading an Uzbek delegation that engaged with representatives from Oman’s Minerals Development Oman (MDO). The focus was on organizing geological exploration in promising areas within Uzbekistan and exploring the development of precious mineral deposits.
In addition to the discussions with MDO, the Uzbek delegation also met with members of the Tasnim Group to deliberate on collaboration in critical minerals, joint geological exploration initiatives, and the initiation of new investment projects. These meetings signify a strategic move by Uzbekistan to bolster its mineral resource base and attract foreign investment and advanced technologies into its mining sector.
Further discussions were held with various stakeholders, including representatives from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, as well as the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. The Uzbek delegation also engaged with Nine Business Company LLC, Oman Trade Establishment, OQ, Al Zubair Corporation LLC, and Asyad Group.
The emphasis during these talks was on fostering mutually beneficial cooperation in mining and geology, with a shared commitment to practical engagement that would facilitate the attraction of cutting-edge technologies and investment into both nations’ mining sectors. This initiative is part of Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to expand its geological exploration efforts and strengthen its mineral resource base, thereby positioning itself as a significant player in the regional mining industry.
