    Solidcore’s Ertis Hydrometallurgical Plant to Invest KZT 900m in Social Projects in Pavlodar Region

    Authorities in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region have signed a social memorandum with Ertis Hydrometallurgical Plant LLP, a flagship project of Solidcore Resources, outlining new investments in social and environmental initiatives.

    Under the agreement, the company will allocate approximately KZT 900 million toward socially significant projects in the city of Pavlodar. The funding will support capital repairs at three schools and two kindergartens, as well as broader improvements to the city’s social infrastructure.

    The memorandum also includes environmental commitments. As part of conservation measures, the project will finance the purchase of 65 units of specialised equipment for regional forestry and wildlife protection institutions.

    Vladimir Dudin, General Director of Ertis Hydrometallurgical Plant LLP, said the company aims to ensure that industrial development directly contributes to improving living standards in the region.

    “For us it is important to build a model of cooperation where industrial growth directly contributes to improving the quality of life for people. Social investment is not a one-time initiative but part of the company’s long-term strategy,” he said.

    Pavlodar regional governor Asain Baikhanov highlighted the importance of cooperation between government and business in achieving sustainable regional development.

    The Ertis Hydrometallurgical Plant is planned to become Kazakhstan’s first full-cycle facility for processing gold-bearing concentrates. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in 2028 and is expected to strengthen the country’s downstream processing capacity in the mining sector.

    Environmental inspectors have identified multiple violations at coal deposits in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region after detecting spontaneous coal combustion at four separate sites, leading to excessive atmospheric emissions.

    According to Kazinform, supervisory authorities launched inspections following complaints from local residents about persistent smog. Investigations confirmed air pollution caused by burning coal waste at the Bogatyr, Shygys, Angrensor Energo and Maikuben deposits. Three of the affected sites are located in Ekibastuz, while the Maikuben operation lies in the Bayanaul district.

    Regulators found that the subsoil users had failed to fully comply with the conditions of their environmental emission permits. As a result, the companies were held administratively liable and fined. Bogatyr Komir was ordered to pay 680,000 tenge, Eurasian Energy Corporation’s Shygys mine 889,000 tenge, Angrensor Energo 702,000 tenge, and Maikuben-West 658,000 tenge.

    In addition to the penalties, the coal producers have been instructed to develop and implement technical action plans aimed at containing and eliminating the self-ignition hotspots. The regional environmental department will oversee compliance with the prescribed deadlines.

    Balamir Makhanov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “AK Altynalmas”, has visited the Maikainzoloto site as part of a working trip, where he met with the company’s workforce to present a roadmap for future development.

    Altynalmas, one of Kazakhstan’s top three gold producers, continues to invest in modernization and expansion across five key regions. The Maikainzoloto asset, recently integrated into the company’s strategic portfolio, is now a focal point for comprehensive growth.

    “Maikainzoloto is a valuable asset within our company structure. We see significant potential here and are committed to ensuring its sustainable development through modernization, new technologies, and resource base expansion,” said Makhanov during the meeting.

    To extend operational life and boost production, five new exploration licenses have been acquired. Among the most promising sites is the Alpys deposit, where exploration is already planned. Additionally, the company aims to construct a processing plant to treat historic tailings, accumulated since the deposit was first developed.

    Altynalmas continues to emphasize corporate social responsibility, focusing on occupational safety, modern personnel and equipment tracking systems, working conditions, and professional development programs. The company also actively supports local communities, investing in social infrastructure, education, and sports initiatives.

    As part of the visit, Altynalmas officially introduced Daniyal Nabiev as the new General Director of Maikainzoloto. With extensive management experience in industrial enterprises, Nabiev’s appointment reflects Altynalmas’ commitment to robust and dynamic growth.

    The outlined development strategy and leadership transition underscore Altynalmas’ determination to strengthen its position in the mining sector while contributing to the socio-economic growth of the Pavlodar region.

    Eurasian Resources Group to Invest in Social Projects in Pavlodar Region

    According to the press service of the regional akim, this year Eurasian Resources Group will allocate 2.9 billion tenge for the implementation of socially significant projects in the Pavlodar region.

    The cooperation agreement was signed by the shareholder and chairman of the supervisory board of Eurasian Group, Shuhrat Ibragimov, and the akim of the Pavlodar region, Asain Baykhanov.

    Traditionally, the funds will be allocated for projects aimed at maintaining stability and development in the region. They are selected by ERG and the regional akimat based on the comprehensive needs of the region. The projects cover areas such as healthcare, housing and communal services, landscaping, greening, and several other important directions.

    According to the press service of the akim of the Pavlodar region, this year 18 projects totaling 11.4 billion tenge are planned to be implemented from the budget. They will focus on landscaping and road repairs in cities and districts of the region, the renovation of Lermontov Street in the regional center, the construction of an ice arena in Aksu, the reconstruction of the “Shakhter” park in Ekibastuz, and others.

    Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov Inspects Development of Export-Oriented Industry in Pavlodar Region

    The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, conducted an inspection of the progress in implementing the instructions of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, regarding the development of export-oriented industry and technological modernization of enterprises in the Pavlodar region.

    Bektenov visited the leading enterprises of the region: KSP Steel, Aluminum of Kazakhstan, Kazakh Electrolysis Plant, Aksu Ferroalloy Plant, and Aksu Power Plant, which make a significant contribution to the regional economy.

    He familiarized himself with the production processes and products of the KSP Steel plant, which is the second-largest in the steelmaking sector and employs over 4,500 people. Bektenov noted the issue of bringing the enterprise to full production capacity and emphasized the need to create conditions for the utilization of domestic producers.

    He also visited Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC, highlighting the importance of the existing aluminum cluster for the region and the entire country. Bektenov called for increasing production conversion and technical modernization of the enterprise in line with environmental requirements.

    The Prime Minister also inspected the work of Kazakh Electrolysis Plant, which ranks among the top ten plants in the world for producing high-grade primary aluminum. He expressed support for the strategy of increasing raw material processing within the country.

    As part of the trip, Bektenov also visited Aksu Ferroalloy Plant and Aksu Power Plant, where extensive modernization is underway. He underscored the importance of accelerating the modernization of the communal-energy sector and expressed support for ensuring dynamic industrialization of the country’s economy.
