    The meeting organised on 16 February focused on the achievements in the field of industrial safety in 2023 and the tasks for 2024. Kazatomprom is the first national company in Kazakhstan to join the Vision Zero international program, which aims to achieve zero injuries at work. The company is constantly improving the safety culture of its employees, guided by the principle of transparency in all aspects of HSE. Environmental responsibility remains a key aspect of Kazatomprom’s activities. The company strives to not only comply with international environmental standards, but also to be a leader in the application of best practices and innovative approaches aimed at continuous reduction of environmental impact.

    In 2023, all targets for industrial safety were met, and there were improvements in some indicators in terms of ecology and road safety. The company will continue to develop a culture of safety and environmental responsibility and intends to improve its activities in the field of industrial safety, including the use of IT technologies and a risk-oriented approach to planning and organizing work. Ensuring a high degree of involvement of both production personnel and managers of all levels in HSE issues is the most important factor for improving the corporate safety culture. During the event, an award ceremony was held for employees and enterprises of the nuclear holding company for their achievements in the field of HSE.

    Court orders Bosnia’s RiTE Ugljevik to pay compensation to Slovenia – report

    July 18 (SeeNews) – A Belgrade arbitration court has ordered Bosnian coal mining and energy producing company RiTE Ugljevik [BANJ:RTEU-R-A] to pay a 67 million euro ($75 million) compensation to Slovenia’s state-owned electricity producer Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE), Slovenian media reported on Tuesday.

    The court found that Elektrogospodarstvo Slovenije, the predecessor of HSE, is entitled to compensation for electricity not delivered by RiTE Ugljevik in the period from June 2011 to December 2021, Slovenian public broadcaster RTV reported.

    According to Slovenian daily Dnevnik, HSE is working to get the awarded compensation returned in kind, either in the form of an ownership stake in RiTE Ugljevik or in electricity from the Bosnian power system.

    Elektrogospodarstvo Slovenije co-financed the construction of the Ugljevik power plant in the 1980s, and was receiving electricity from it until 1991 when the wars in Bosnia and Croatia broke out.

    HSE initiated launched arbitration proceedings claiming compensation for the lack of electricity deliveries both in Belgrade, the capital of the former Yugoslavia, and in the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington, D.C. According to Dnevnik, the HSE’s basic claim in both ongoing arbitration proceedings is worth approximately 760 million euro.
