Zhezkazganredmet, a Kazakh metallurgical company, and Maritime House, a UK-based metals processing company, have announced a partnership to produce rhenium.

Rhenium is a rare metal that has various applications in fields such as medicine, aircraft, and electronics. Maritime House owns and operates a rhenium recycling plant in Napanee, Ontario, Canada. The partnership was presented at a webinar which discussed the area of critical minerals in Kazakh-British activities.

The joint work with Maritime House will not only expand the possibilities in the production of rhenium and develop new technologies for its extraction for both countries but also attract modern methods for the development of the production of rare metals in general.
