The design capacity of the copper smelter will be 300 thousand tons of cathode copper per year

Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Marat Karabayev met with the Deputy General Director of the Chinese metallurgical company China Nonferrous Metals Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. Liu Yu. It was about investments in a copper smelter in Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports citing MIIR.

Karabaev noted that the Chinese company already has successful experience in implementing such large projects as the Kazakh smelter, Aktogay and Bozshakol.

“I want to thank you for choosing Kazakhstan for investment and expansion of production capacity. Of course, we are interested in attracting investments for the implementation of modern and technological manufacturing industries. For our part, we are ready to provide state support at all stages of the project implementation,” said the head of the MIIR.

From the Kazakh side, the participants of the investment project are Kazakhmys and KAZ Minerals. The design capacity of the plant will be 300 thousand tons of cathode copper per year. The implementation of the project involves attracting significant capital investments and creating several hundred jobs in the long term.
