Parliament has approved the deprivation of ex-president Nursultan Nazarbayev of special status.
The Majilis and the Senate at a joint meeting of the Parliament on Friday in two readings have approved the recognition of the constitutional law “On the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy” as invalid.
Thus, the ex-president and members of his family are deprived of all the privileges established by the said law. At the same time, Nazarbayev is subject to the privileges provided by the Constitution for all former presidents of Kazakhstan.
