KAZ Minerals Bozymchak

KAZ Minerals Bozymchak is part of KAZ Minerals Group and has been operating in Kyrgyzstan since 2007.

KAZ Minerals Bozymchak holds exploration and development licenses for the Bozymchak copper and gold deposit in Ala-Buka district of Jalal-Abad region, and other licenses required to operate the deposit.

Bozymchak is KAZ Minerals’ first project outside of Kazakhstan. The Bozymchak project is one of the largest investment projects currently underway in the Kyrgyz Republic in the south of the country.

The mining processing complex has a capacity of 1,100,000 tons of ore per annum.

The final goods are copper concentrate with gold and silver content. Production is carried out by bulk flotation method. Cyanides are not used in production.

GOK Bozymchak is the first mine in the CIS to use dry tailings stacking technology. The moisture content of the processed materials is about 14%. This is an advanced technology used in similar operations and minimizes the environmental impact. After completion of production, reclamation activities will be carried out and biological cover of the area will be restored.

The number of employees of the mining processing complex is about 1,300 people, more than 95% of whom are citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The construction of the underground mine is nearing completion and transition from open pit to underground mining is underway.

KAZ Minerals Bozymchak is a socially oriented company. Since 2011, memoranda have been signed annually between the company and local authorities. As part of the memorandums, assistance is provided for the development of social infrastructure in villages close to the mine.
