First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev and President of Kumtor Gold Company Almazbek Baryktabasov launched a project to mine gold at the Kumtor deposit. Almazbek Baryktabasov noted that the underground development of gold reserves at the Kumtor deposit is one of the most important tasks aimed at expanding the company’s production base. “The feasibility study of the underground gold mining project developed by specialists speaks of its economic efficiency. According to preliminary data, with the help of underground mining, it will be possible to obtain 115 tons of gold. Taking into account the precious metal mined at the open-pit mine, this is a big step forward,” he stressed. The President of Kumtor Gold Company stressed that the company expects to reach ore with a higher gold grade with the help of underground mining. “All this will contribute to an increase in the volume of gold produced at the enterprise. As a result, we will increase tax payments to the republican budget and the amounts paid at the end of the year in the form of dividends,” Almazbek Baryktabasov said.
